The experience

If you find yourself on a quiet beach in Pelion on a clear night, it can feel as if you can touch the stars. It’s an almost surreal experience.

That’s where we’ll be, shortly after sunset.

Once it gets dark, we observe the sky with the naked eye and identify basic constellations, bright stars, and of course our galaxy.

Using an astronomical laser pointer, I’ll indicate the points we talk about so you can easily find them yourself afterwards.

At the same time, we explore their stories from Greek mythology.

We also see how the stars move across the sky in relation to the Earth, which constellations appear in each season, and how to find direction by observing the night sky.

During the experience I will also show photographs of the night sky taken on the spot with astrophotography equipment, so you can see striking details that are invisible to the naked eye. The photos are sent to participants afterwards.

The experience takes place in a small group so there is time and space for everyone.

The meeting

The exact meeting location is shared after booking.

Participants travel with their own vehicle to the meeting point. From there, we head together to the final observation location.

What you should know

• The activity takes place only under clear skies, so the experience has real value. In case of clouds, it is rescheduled or cancelled free of charge.
• Bring warm clothing. Temperatures drop at night, even in summer.
• Optionally, bring a headlamp or a small flashlight.
